MAKEDONIA IS GREECE!

Megisti.net would like to offer its good wishes to the whole of Greece and its unmitigated support to Makedonia ("d" pronounced as “th” in “thus”).

Makedonia has suffered American President G. W. Bush’s fist and most momentus historical blunder, when his administration had, most dishonorably, “recognized” the "Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" (F.Y.R.O.M.) as "Republic of Macedonia". This cynical action was taken only a few hours AFTER the US elections were over on the 5th of November 2004, thus ensuring the plentiful and precious votes from the Greek-American population, an action which has given a new definition to the word "sly".

Notice that the people from FYROM pronunce the word "Macedoni’a" as Matsedo’nia, a pronunciation which most definitely is wrong, since even Alexander the Great himself was calling it "Makedoni’a"!!!
(Note that it is the vowel “i” which is accented, NOT the "o")

As well, the name "Alexander the Great" is the direct English translation of "Me’gas Ale’xandros." The letter “g” is the equivalent of the “hard” dipthong “gh” and pronounced as the “w” in “what?” The accent in both, Ale’xandros and Me’gas falls on the vowel “e”.

Please also note that the language spoken in FYROM is a Slavo-Serbian derivative and was non-existant at the time of the birth of Mekedoni’a. and it is, of course, therefore completely different to both, Ancient and Modern Greek. Greek in fact, was the ONLY language spoken by the "Makedo’nes", (inhabitants of Makedoni’a) which explains why ALL the historical evidence regarding Makedoni’a and written by the Makedones was written in Greek. Makedo’nes were and still are, uneqivocally, Greek.

The interesting thing is, that those people claiming to be descendants of "Megas Alexandros" made their presence felt only in very recent years and provide no proof whatsoever for that claim. During the period of Alexander the Great the only language spoken was that of his family which was that of the rest of Greece, and therefore, most obviously, Greek. Greece, at the time, was a conglomerate of City States, all of which spoke Greek and shared in the Greek Culture, the Greek Religions, the Greek Festivals and Greek trade. Makedoni’a was one of these States. Not very long before Alexander birth and generalship, all these States paid a tax to a central body (first in Delos and then directly to Athens) so as to build a strong defence against further attacks from Persia.

Alexander the Great’s teacher was the Philosopher Aristotle and part of the philosopher’s intruction to the young general of an army comprising most Greek States, was to study his Homer, particularly the Iliad which was filled with prodigious paradigms of true heroism and bravery. Alexander obeyed his teacher by studying the book every moment he had free and, it is said, he would go to bed with the book under his pillow. The Iliad which Alexander took to bed with him was not written in any Slavic derivatives.

Let’s not go on with more historical facts about the Makedonian issue. That history is indeed, replete with proof of the Greekness of Makedonia but let us simply ask our “Doubting Thomases” if words like “Alexandros” or “Filippos” (his father) mean anything in any other language than Greek where one can easily discern the meanings “Helper of Men” and “Lover of horses.”
We find no earlier use of these names which adds to one’s conviction that they are, indeed, Greek.

One cannot and must not be allowed to easily erase selected pages from the history books and to replace them with new writings presenting an opposing view: Solid proof is needed that this new “discovery” is correct; solid proof is needed in order before one alters the older claim and solid proof is most definitely needed before attempts are made to rest another people’s homeland from them.

And, solid proof does not become solid by the mere fact that a President of even the most powerful nation on earth claims it to be so.

Always seek the truth and the truth is within the heart of proof.
